Having respect for oneself is another.

Once we reach our goal, we gain confidence. We use this confidence to set new goals to achieve. That is what creative living is all about. But when should we be proud of our achievement? When we develop confidence on our own initiative, there is no shame in being proud of it. We don’t have to brag about it; but we can look at ourselves with kind eyes and, approval. We can accept our self for what we are and what we can be. This does not mean complacency, being satisfied with our lot and staying that way.

Complacency is a variation of conceit, because we like our self and go on like ourselves for what we have achieved, feeling we need not achieve anymore. Complacency and humility do not go together, but confidence and humility do. There is a hidden danger in being complacent. Soon we become passive and rest on our laurels, whatever they may be. Then we slowly retire from the realities of life. Creative living means that we must always keep moving in the stream of things. We can still enjoy a vacation now and relax in the room of our mind to renew our energies and our courage to tackle life’s problems. Complacency signals that we are resting too long. All rest and no work makes us dull, uninteresting, and lifeless.
So, no one can make us complacent without our consent.
-----------------

The happiest people seem to be those who have no particular reason for being so except that they are so.

Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.

Every day we grow a little rich in the treasures that the heart is fondest of.

Happiness is the overcoming of not unknown obstacles toward a known goal.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 33

PERCEPTION OF TIME IS IN THE MIND

Have you ever noticed that when we eagerly wait for an event, like spending holidays on a beach , it takes longer to arrive but the exams we fear come too quickly? Well, a new study says that this is because our perception of time passing depends on our state of mind.
The study, conducted by researchers at the Paris School of Economics, showed that different types of anticipation for an event affected how long people felt it took to arrive -- what is technically called its `anticipated duration'.

The feeling that you `can't wait for something' actually made it appear to take longer to come. On the contrary, the dread of a task makes time appear to fly.

The researchers found that waiting for an event creates impatience, which means we think about the event a lot and this seems to `expand time'.

Dreading an event, on the other hand, creates anxiety and this means we put it out of our mind and this has the effect of `contracting time'.

The researchers said that time is not absolute but can have a certain `elasticity', which will depend on the kind of emotions they are experiencing.

"When a person anticipates an event that generates a positive emotion, say spending the next holidays on a beach , she/he may experience impatience and she/he may feel these longingly awaited holidays will never arrive," the Telegraph quoted the authors led by Pierre-Yves Geoffard as saying.

"The anticipated duration expands. On the other hand, if this same person faces a negative event such as a difficult exam, she/he may feel anxiety and time seems to fly until this event," they said.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 32

FRUSTRATION…………A POSITIVE FORCE

Everyone experiences one kind of frustration or another every day. Whenever we are crushed under it, it becomes a chronic type of negative feeling. But when we derive some stimulation from it, it helps us solve a problem, not to yield to it. So frustration can be turned in to a positive force.

We have a servo-mechanism within us which can create ideas and find solutions to problems transforming us into creative artists. Instead, too many of us jam our creative mechanism with worry, anxiety and fear. This jamming of the creative servo-mechanism doesn’t serve us at all. It inhibits us from our goals, putting a road-block of negation in front of us, creating frustration.

THE ROAD BLOCKS OF FRUSTRATION ARE: We worry not only before making a decision but after. We carry this in our minds all day. The cure? Express anxiety before, but not after making a decision. Once we choose a road to take, we must stop worrying and call upon the confidence of past success to guide us in the present.
We must stop the worry and feel about yesterday, today and tomorrow. Think of only today. Treat every day as complete lifetime. Do your best, respond to the present. TRY, TRY, TRY – NOW, NOW.
Don’t clutter your day. Do one thing at a time. It frees you from the burden of hurry and failure.
Relax well. Put aside everything. A good night’s rest brings a beautiful and hopeful day back. Don’t wrestle with your problems twenty-four hours. So relaxation helps you overcome frustration. Don’t think of it. Work for it. Do it – Now.
Remember these words of Plato “NOTHING IN THE AFFAIRS OF MEN IS WORTH WORRYING ABOUT”.

The happiness which brings enduring worth to life is not the superficial happiness that is dependent on circumstances.

Identifying ourselves with the body is putting the cart before the horse and this is why we stumble in life.

When the mind unites with the soul, it overflows with joy and inexpressible delight.

Happiness should always remain a bit incomplete. After all, dreams are boundless.

Life does not teach us to expect nothing, but not to expect success to be the inevitable result of all our endeavours.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART-- 31

COLOURS CAN RELAX AND ENERGIZE A TIRED MIND

A SPLASH OF COLOURS CAN RELAX AND ENRGIZE A TIRED MIND, BESIDES EASING THOSE STRESS LINES ON OUR FOREHEAD.

Imagine a world without colours. Impossible! For it would look a dull, pallid canvas. To drive the drabness out of life, we need to make a happy splash of hues in our day-to-day usual business.
A rainbow of seven shades adds beauty to the sky and lifts our spirits. Noted English physicist Sir Isaac Newton's colour-disc proves this phenomenon. Similarly, a palette of chromes decks up a pretty painting. Hop into any art gallery and you will see a window of diverse dyes open out before you. “After a brainstorming session at work or a rough ride down a clogged road, a visit to an art exhibition is a great stress reliever. It invokes a sense of serenity and is always joyfully exciting," prescribes clinical psychologists.
It is justified to assume, that colours add a zing to the daily humdrum. Science tells us that colour is simply a light of varying wavelengths and frequencies. Exercising a strong impact on the minds, colours reveal tell-tale signs of our mood swings and body vitality.
Pigments help perk up our moods in hard-pressed situations. So, can colours really help to keep the blues at bay?
Often we choose colours to depict our emotions. According to colour therapy experts, colours not only affect sentiments, but also help tackle illnesses though healing properties.
Nature spreads out a charming carpet of colours. Enter a garden, stroll along its stony path or soak in the beauty of dew drenched meadows -- all our worries are washed away in a flash. "I walk a mile every morning for that burst of fresh oxygen. It is healthy to gaze at a spot of greenery. It not only relaxes your mind but also improves your vision," espouses a morning walker.
Take films, for example. A grand, colourful marquee always appears stunning to the weary mind. It instantly transports the mind to a different time-zone, detached from the present reality.
Even lessons at kindergarten become colourful as teachers introduce tiny tots to the world of doodling with crayons and colour pencils. A picture is worth a thousand words. Teach a nursery child with the aid of colourful props and drawings and the child will respond promptly, as opposed to mere writing or blackboard lessons.
Colours by far tingle a child's creativity and interest in learning at a preparatory stage. So whatever the stage of growth of scale of stress we are at, we could all use a dab of colour to wipe away our blues.

Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation. Confusion is not a bad state at all. Every seeker has to start with confusion. It is good that you are feeling a little confused. That shows the beginning of intelligence, because unless you have some intelligence you cannot be confused. The heart never gets confused; it simply knows.

Confusion means: new furniture in the house
Confusion comes only when something new comes. Whenever something new comes you have to read just yourself. Confusion means you have brought new furniture in the house; now you have to rearrange everything. Confusion is part of life. Only dead people are never confused. Confusion simply says that you are still alive, you are still growing.

Do your acts playfully
Whatsoever you are doing, do it playfully, don’t be serious about it. And then there will be no question of confusion. Whenever you are confused, that simply shows that you have come against something in yourself which needs to be changed. You have come across a block — that block has to be dissolved. Somewhere you have some habit, some pattern, and some structure that is creating trouble; that structure can be changed. Don’t be worried!

Confusion and certainty are together
When there is confusion, there can be certainty; when confusion disappears, certainty also disappears. It is the most beautiful moment in one’s life when there is neither confusion nor certainty. One simply is, a mirror reflecting that which is, with no direction, going nowhere, with no idea of doing something, with no future, just utterly in the moment, tremendously in the moment.

Life is paradox
Life has tremendous mystery in it because it is based on paradox. You are feeling confused because you have a certain fixed idea about how life should be — you don’t allow life to be as it is. The confusion is of your own creation.
The moment you accept that I don’t know, all confusion will disappear, simply evaporate – just as dewdrops evaporate in the early morning sun, leaving no trace behind them.

Meditation is a state of clarity, not a state of mind.
Mind is confusion. Mind is never clear. It cannot be. Thoughts create clouds around you. A mist is created by them, and the clarity is lost. When thoughts disappear, when there are no more clouds around you, when you are in your simple beingness, clarity happens. Meditation is clarity, absolute clarity of vision. You cannot think about it. You have to drop thinking. Let thoughts settle themselves. You just sit gazing at the wall, in a silent corner, relaxed, loose. You remain alert inside but the whole body moves into deep relaxation.
Courtesy Osho International Foundation/www.osho.com

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART --28

THE 'PRESENT MOMENT' IS THE MIND PLAYING ITS LITTLE MANAGEMENT GAME ON YOU.................BUT THE 'PRESENT' NEED NOT BE A MOMENT AT ALL

"The timeless midst the transient, the awareness amidst the flux" Join back the little slivers of time that you have unwittingly split up with your own hands. Regain a continuing sense of the present. The so called `present moment' isn't here now and gone the next instant. Flow with nature and discover for yourself if your `present moment' can continue longer, through the hour, through the day. Allow that little fleeting instant to stretch out. Rejoin the fragments of your life that have been broken into little manageable bits of `10 AM, meeting with boss', `10.15 AM, meeting with client'. Have a `whole day meeting with self" -- no boss, no client, no computer, nothing to tell what time it is. Remove the scheduler, the task manager, the wrist watch, the little digital dial with its virtual ticks marking out an irreversible, irredeemable slice of your life that was here now this instant and gone forever the next. Reset your life, gain freedom from gadgets that have cut up your conception of time into little pieces. Let man made, machine made time fly out finally and completely, never to return again, at least not with the same manic force and strength.
Ancient man measured time by the moon and seasons. For him time was something completely different from what it is now. You can call him primitive, call him out dated, but remember this -- his present moment lasted much longer, he was more at peace, more in sync with the universe than we can ever be. Try and flow with rhythms of nature that our ancestors understood so well, and which no longer make sense to our chopped up world. There is time marked by day and night, a full twelve hours each -- something you will understand only if you find yourself in a silent remote place with nothing to do except watch the sun rise and set, watch the stars wheel around and fade, and watch the sun rise again.
There is time marked by phases of the moon, lasting twenty eight days from a full moon to a full moon. There is time marked by rhythms of seasons, and if you can ever learn to mark your time by this you will be a completely different person for the rest of your days. There are also rhythms beyond the solstice, almost beyond the ken of human grasp. There are visitations of comets, like Halley, which returns every 72 years. The human life span isn't long enough to mark time by this. Then there are longer rhythms way beyond human reference. There is the coming and going of the ice age, for instance, and even longer rhythms beyond the grasp of science.
All time is, in a sense, mind. Understand this and change forever. The `present moment' is the mind playing its little management game on you.Because the so called `present' needn't be a moment at all, it could be an hour, a day or the rest of forever. The faster time flows, the more restless your mind is, and the smaller your `moment' is. Soon a point is reached where the mind is so frayed by whirling events that the present `moment' has gone completely.
Life is then a daze where events are happening in a blur and there is no grasp of the now. Conversely, when you flow in deep meditation, time seems to stop completely, the everyday mind fades away and a deeper mind surfaces, bringing with it a different far slower sense of time.
If we choose to, all can always become now. If you can slip out of the clutches of manmade time, and slip into the rhythms of time as nature made it out to be, you sense a deep expansion of the present moment. Understanding time completely means reaching a point of stillness where time disappears. At that point, the mind also disappears. Suddenly the truth hits home. There is a part of us which is timeless. A part of us which can never be ravaged by time. Seek that timelessness amidst the transience. Feel that stillness in the storm.

REFRESHMENTS:

The Bible tells us to love our neighbours, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people............G.K. "If both sighted people and people with blindness process the same ideas in the sameparts of the brain, then it follows that visual experience is not necessary in order for those aspects of brain organisation to develop," said Bradford Mahon, study co-author, University of Rochester. "We think this means significant parts of the brain are innately structured around a few domains of knowledge that were critical in humans' evolutionary history." Previous studies have shown that the sight of certain objects, such as a table or mountain, activate regions of the brain other than the sight of living objects, such as an animal or face - but why the brain would choose to process these two categories differently has remained a mystery, said Mahon. Since the regions were known to activate when the objects were seen, scientists wondered if something about the visual appearance of the objects determined how the brain would process them. For instance, said Mahon, most living things have curved forms, and so many scientists thought the brain prefers to process images of living things in an area that is optimised for curved forms. To see if the appearance of objects is indeed key to how the brain conducts its processing, Mahon and his team, led by Alfonso Caramazza, director of the Cognitive Neuro psychology Laboratory at Harvard University, asked people who have been blind since birth to think about certain living and non-living objects. These people had no visual experience at all, so their brains necessarily determined where to do the processing using some criteria other than an object's appearance. "When we looked at the MRI scans, it was pretty clear that blind people and sighted people were dividing up living and non-living processing in the same way," said Mahon. These findings were published in Neuron.

REFRESH YOUR MIND

Everything you've learned in school as "obvious" becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. Researchers at Keele University, near Newcastleunder-Lyme in Staffordshire, England, have found that swearing can lessen the effect of pain and help people endure painful situations for longer. For example put your hands in ice water for as long as you could, repeat a swear word of your choice you will be able to cope with the cold water for longer while you are swearing. Heightened aggression in people caused by swearing actually helps them cope with the pain, the swearing will induce a fight response. When people are fearful of pain, their tolerance for pain actually increases. So swearing might be a way individuals induce that response themselves.

DID YOU KNOW ?

On May 8, 1886, Dr John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for Coca-Cola, and carried a jug of the new product to a pharmacy. Qualitatively, because by speed reading we will be able train our mind to process its thoughts faster, and that will make us more intelligent over time. Quantitatively, because speed reading enables us to save time and use it for living our lives to the fullest. When we speed read, we are digesting the thoughts of the writer in a shorter span of time, and that gives us more time to analyze those thoughts and even to start applying them to our lives.
Speed reading courses have mushroomed in recent times like a bacterium undergoing binary fission, but it is necessary to emphasize here that all of them need not be effective at all. Some of them might create temporary boosts of speed reading episodes, but that would be all. Most of these courses do not work in the long run because they skin the human brain superficially. There is no conscious effort at making the person realize that speed reading must come from within, and not from any outside factor.
That is why natural speed reading techniques are much more effective. These do not employ any outer factor for enhancing reading skills; on the contrary, they condition the human senses to begin reading faster. This certainly helps the person to read faster; and not only that, the reader can also assimilate the thoughts into memory for a much longer time. In time, the thoughts become constructive inputs to the mind, and the person's life becomes enriched.
You must certainly have heard that children have much better mental capacities than adults. They are able to remember many more things, and can read at a voracious pace than adults can do. Think about it. When you were a child you learnt your native tongue, your state's language and perhaps some others too. That happened as a natural process, didn't it? Do you remember making any effort to master those languages? But if you were to learn a foreign language today as an adult, you can very well appreciate the difficulties you will have to take.
Why does that happen? That is because, as children, our mind is much closer to the natural way it was made - i.e. devoid of the thoughts that we have pumped into it over the ages. As a result, children can read faster, and that certainly improves their mind. Adults have a mind crammed with worries, which does not allow them to savor reading as they did when children.
The prime intention of natural speed reading is to help the mind understand what is in the written matter. The thing to be remembered is that your knowledge of language is the most important tool in speed reading. In that sense, it is your knowledge that is driving in the other knowledge into your mind. This is the whole premise of natural speed reading techniques. You keep a free mind, and then use your own knowledge to better read what is in front of you.
Natural speed reading works in a much better way than other methods because it allows people to understand their own limitations, and trains them to condition their minds to word faster. This method does not just improve reading capabilities, but it can actually help the person to improve life at large.

REFRESH OUR MIND - PART - 23

VACATION IS WITHIN US…….THAT IS IN THE ROOM OF OUR MIND

Sometimes we face an amusing question: Where do we belong? Before we go in quest of an answer, we must realize that we belong to ourselves. We are an island within ourselves. That island can be as barren as rocks on the moon or as fruitful as an orchard or a beautiful countryside. It is within us to make of ourselves what we want to be – creatively, not destructively. We train for our goals, but they must be realistic, not dreams beyond our reach.

During the moments of stress and tension, we can take a vacation. We can take this vacation everyday for a few moments and it costs nothing. The daily vacation is within us, in the room of our mind. Let us go on this vacation when pressures are great. Relax for a few minutes, let go of the tensions, renew our energies for the problems before us.

Isn’t it wonderful to be an island within ourselves briefly? But we do not stay that way. We belong to ourselves, no doubt, but we also belong to the world. ‘Happiness’ lies within the world, not totally within our self. Let us prepare our self to create a perfect rhythm between these two. Let us realize that we need the help of others as they need ours. Man reaches his true big self when he shares his success and his big self with others. He shares his courage with others when times are tough, when there is pressure. He stands up for himself and for others, turning crisis in to opportunity. The world is full of crises, and we are here to help each other rise above them, to reach fulfillment, and sooner or later, the Brotherhood of Man.

TWO CHOICES
Every morning we have two choices – continue our sleep with dreaming or wake up and chase our dreams. Choice is ours.

HARDEST THING
One of the hardest things in life is having words in our heart, but we can’t utter from our mouth!

REFRESH OUR MIND - PART 22

Binaural Music in the Brain

Did you know that it is possible to fool your brain into thinking its time to relax, sleep, be creative or even be happy? In fact through the use of binaural beats you can now easily create almost any mental or physical state known to Man on demand!

Binaural beats are special auditory tones that are used to create specific brainwaves in the brain of the listener. The reason why binaural beats can act on the brain in this fashion is due to the fact that the brain has a tendency to follow the frequencies of certain outside stimuli. When tones, or even flashing lights like those used in mind machines, are presented to the brain in a certain way the brain will create brainwaves that are the exact same frequency as the lights or tones. This is a process known as brain entrainment.

So by flashing lights, or using special tones, at the specific frequencies it is possible to create specific brainwaves which have been proven to correspond to specific physical and mental states.

So the purpose of using binaural beats as a form of brain entrainment is to create brainwaves that correspond to specific physical and mental states such as deep relaxation, sleep, creativity, heightened focus etc. In fact any physical or mental state can be produced through the use of binaural beats including a feeling of euphoria!

The most common use of binaural beats is for instant meditation. Extensive research into deep meditation has shown that very specific brainwaves are present during meditative sessions. Through the use of binaural beats it is now possible to entrain the brain to produce these exact same brainwaves and thus create the physical and mental state of deep meditation.

Binaural beats are a product of using two distinct tones. The two tones are very similar. However, one tone has a slightly different frequency to the other. When these tones are presented to the brain in a certain way the brain will produce brainwaves that have a frequency the same as the difference between the two tones.

To illustrate this I will give a simple example. Let's say you have one tone with a frequency 300 MHz and the other has 320 MHz. The difference between the two tones is 20 Mhz. When these tones are presented to the brain in a certain way, as binaural beats recordings do, the brain will produce brainwaves with a frequency of 20 MHz.

To achieve this is very simple. Through the use of stereo headphones one of these tones is heard by one ear while the other ear hears the second tone. When you use stereo headphones to hear the tones a strange thing happens. Because the tones are very similar the brain merges the two tones together to form just one tone. This works a little like your eyes. You see one image from the left eye and a slightly different perspective from the right eye. However, the brain will take the two images and merge them to form only one. The same thing happens with sounds. You hear a sound slightly differently in each ear due to the positioning of your ears from the sound but the brain merges the two sounds to make them one.

So once the brain merges the two tones that you hear in a binaural beats recording, to create one tone, another strange thing happens. Because the two tones have a slightly different frequency to one another the brain "hears" a beat type effect. In our example above these binaural beats would have the frequency of 20 Mhz. The beat does not exist and is actually an illusion of the mind!

Because the exact brainwave frequencies associated with different mental and physical states are known it is possible to use binaural beats recordings to create these exact brainwaves and thus the physical and mental states that are associated with them.

Now, thanks to binaural beats, you can create anything from heightened creativity to states of deep transcendental meditation and feelings of ecstasy!

For more information on binaural beats and to read free reviews of the best recordings you can visit Binaural. This is the unanswered riddle of ages. We all seem to know who we are. We feel securely rooted to ourselves, yet when we dream we are not rooted at all. In dreams we could be anyone, anywhere. In deep sleep we lose even that notion of ‘I’. It is as if we didn’t exist for that duration.

Who are you? Neuroscience is getting there. The notion of ‘I’ is like an image on a screen - a hologram created by hundreds of millions of neurons firing together. So long as we live, the neurons keep firing, the hologram keeps forming and ‘you’ exist. When we die the neurons stop firing, the screen turns blank, and ‘you’ will cease to exist. This is deep. But there is something deeper. ‘You’ are continuously dying and being reborn. ‘You’ are not the same person who started reading this. In the space of few seconds, ‘you’ died and were reborn many thousand times.

Neurons create an ever changing ever refreshing field. Think of it as a projector beaming movie. Movie frames refresh themselves 24 times a second. Each of those frames is a different ‘you’ recreated quickly in smooth continuity.

It is happening so fast you can’t tell the difference. Who are you then? Are you the flickering image on the screen or the projector beaming the images? Isn’t that also you who else could it be?

The ‘projectors’ are neuronal cells creating an electrical field. What’s making them create the field? Neuronal cells are made of billions of living molecules.

You can feel its presence as truth, bliss, consciousness. Its truth is your life, its bliss is your joy, and its consciousness is the music of your existence.

Positive thinking and continuous learning will rejuvenate the organ mind, that’s ‘you’

THOUGHT BY THOUGHT AND ACTION BY ACTION, WE ARE SCULPTURING OUR FUTURE.

AGE, CASTE, POSITION, OPINION – NONE OF THESE IS A BAR IN ENTERING THE CHAMBERS OF SELF.

WITH EGO WE ARE GONE. WITHOUT EGO WE GO ON.

KNOWLEDGE ALONE CAN GIVE US A SENSE OF DETACHMENT, WITHOUT WHICH LIFE IS A BONDAGE AND FREEDOM ONLY A DREAM.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 20

UNDERSTANDING MIRACLES

The moment we hear the word miracle, we get excited. What do we call a miracle? When we don’t know the cause and effect relationship between certain things that happen, we say a miracle has happened……that’s all.

For example, you see a pen on a table. If a person take the pen in his hand in front of your eyes, it is normal; you don’t feel anything. But if suddenly the pen jumps into the persons hand without the person taking it, then you will call it a miracle. You get excited. Because you don’t know the cause and effect relationship in what you saw, you call it a miracle. You don’t know what caused the pen to come to the person’s hand, so you call it a miracle.
What actually happens is teleporting. The pen, which is matter, is converted into energy, transported over space and then reconverted into matter at the other end, that’s all. When you don’t know this science, you think it is a miracle. There is no real miracle in this.

The real miracles are happening around us all the time, but we miss them because we are too busy searching for things that we think are miracles. We all know turning water into wine is not a miracle. Turning a man in to God is the real miracle. Our body itself is a miracle.

The power of coincidence is another miracle that happens to us so many times even without our knowledge. For example, we think of a person and suddenly that person appears before us. Or we call someone up and they say that they were about to call us. All these are nothing, but the power of coincidence. These are the real miracles of human existence. These are the events that show that you are moving in synchronicity with the show of existence.
If we tune in to these miracles, life becomes so beautiful. But what do we do? When these kinds of things happen, we take them for granted. We think that they happened by chance. We are so out of step with the grand show that is going on and keep looking for miracles with a materialistic mind. Do you know, when you tune in to the show that is going on, material wealth will come to you automatically.

How to tune ourselves to these miracles? Just create a deep conviction and awareness about existence. Feel that you are part of it. Be in a grateful mood all the time; gratitude towards the whole of existence, not just towards any person; that is enough; you will start being in tune with the real miracles of existence.

When we understand and enjoy the miracles continuously happening around us, life will become an eternal celebration and we will flow effortlessly like a river.

TRUTH
Truth stands on its own evidence. It does not require any other testimony to prove it true, it is self-effulgent.
HOME
Crown of home is Godliness. Beauty of home is orderliness. Blessings of home are contentment.
SUCCESS
Never forget the goal. Most of them flow so fast that we can’t even identify them. Try holding one and it will vaporize like ghostly mist.

Where do they come from? Propelled from deep inside, thoughts bubble up and pop on the surface all the time. If you silence your mind even a little bit, you will be able to see it happening like it happens in a glass of soda. Pop, fizzle, pop…non stop. It’s a wonderful, helpless feeling because the bubbles will pop whether you want it or not. These thoughts are coming from some other part of you over which you have no control. You are just a witness watching it happen.

The torrent can easily turn into an unending torment. Open and read the morning newspaper ……. Usually it’s enough to feel stabs, twinges, and rush of fluids. Events of yesterday have still not receded. Whatever was unfulfilled will return and shove its tiny needle down your spine. Every minute something happens. The mind registers a slight, and inadequacy, a tiny threat and responds by a minuscule injection of an unnecessary destructive neuro-chemical.

This is the stuff that makes you grow old before your time. This is what they call ‘SILENT STRESS’. Eventually, however brave and strong you are, it will leave its burn marks on you.

At the root of all this is your passive self. You consider thoughts as ‘inevitable’. You let them in the way villagers let a raiding army in, unable to do anything else but run, hide and watch.

You make no moves to shut them out. Who’s in charge here? Not you, for sure. Philosophy tells you to take charge of your mind. Shut out those zillion self-destructive pain pricks. Close down the factories of needless emotion that pollute your inner space.

This isn’t an act of a saint. It’s the act of a smart person. When we let go of a burning desire for wealth, for instance, it doesn’t mean we will stop making money. It usually means we will earn more of it; because we have a cooler head that isn’t going to worry over how much we made or lost today. Life begins when the torment ends. And with it comes fresh creative ideas.

So how do you let go? There isn’t any magic pill. Philosophy reveals hundreds of techniques….. Find one that’s right for you and work at it. Remember, the ultimate slavery is not to a system or a tyrant, but to our own minds.

TYPES OF DREAMS

TELEPATHIC DREAMS
Telepathy, known as ‘the language of the angels,” allows the dead and the living to speak in dreamland. In this meeting place, death is no barrier, and the living cross the threshold in to a heavenly sphere of existence. This mental communication can also occur mind-to-mind between two living people.

LUCID DREAMS

A lucid dream is one that you can control because you are aware that you are dreaming. THE HEART IS JUST A THUMPING ORGAN. WHEN YOU STAY WITH STILLNESS, ‘YOU’ WILL BECOME YOUR HEART. YOU WILL BECOME HEART-CENTRED. THIS IS A SINGULAR HEART AND A SPECIAL ‘YOU’ ALTOGETHER.

SIT COMFORTABLY, alone in an undisturbed place. Be silent and unmoving. If unsettling thoughts come, let them. Become like a rock. Absolutely motionless. The only outer movement you’ll feel now is the undulation of your abs as you gently breathe. Remain like this. In a few moments you will discern the inner movement. You will feel the quietly thumping heart.

Stay with this feeling. The thumping heart is a wonderfully sweet sensation. The lub-dub has a magic to it. Philosophy says your heart has another function and purpose beyond pumping blood and churning emotions. It can plunge you in to the field and reveal the “source of all things.”

Enter your inner physical world. The world you have largely ignored all these years. Here your heart is the engine of your body and emotional being. No sensation however small escapes its attention.

As you keep still and listen, you will silently understand how you might have abused it all these years. Everyday of your life you experience over 90,000 thoughts, big and small. Each thought was powered by a tiny emotional bullet triggered by your heart, and aimed at it. You would have felt pricks of sorrow, anguish, anger, or stab wounds of jealousy, rage, hatred, or healing waves of laughter, compassion or love.

On the command of your half-aware mind, the heart created emotions and willingly inflicted them upon it. Depending on the thoughts that hit your mind now, you realize you could be holding deep scars within.

If you realize your heart is scarred, you will need to heal before you can rise any higher. Five minutes of stillness will do a world of good. It will also gently stay your hand from stabbing yourself further. Take life easy and live longer. The Bible says, “Gladness of heart….gives length of days”. Ask any cardiologist, he will certify it.

If you have been joyful and compassionate all along ------ as you allow the stillness to take over completely. You will discern a shift of your centre.

This may sound incredible. But that’s exactly what happens to us at rare moments in our lives. When we behold intense joy or sorrow, whenever we ride the wave of any pure emotions, we crash from head to heart. It is a momentary and uncontrolled sensation way beyond words.

Instead of crashing uncontrollably, philosophy guides you to slip effortlessly into that pool of deep feeling. As you learn the ART OF STILLNESS, you will in time realize that the pool has an endless depth and range. It’s infinite, really, and so are you.

EXPECTATIONS AND REALITY
The problem is the distance between expectation and reality. Either expect less and accept reality or expect a lot and turn it into reality.

PERSONAL GROWTH
Seeing yourself as you want to be is the key to personal growth.
WISE MAN
A wise man doesn’t see his foot on the ground, he watches his next step.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 17

PROGRESS TOWARDS YOUR DREAM
Being motivated and having dreams for your future is very exciting! Dreamers are always around other dreamers that are EXCITED! Your dream needs to be fertilized each day by associating with others, who believe in themselves and have a dream.
This is often difficult because we live in a predominantly negative, bellyaching society in which there are 95% more "dream stealers" than dreamers! Each step that you take forward in various areas of your life is just another step closer to achieving your ultimate dream!

The # 1 reason for failing in life is not allowing the seed of your dream that is in your heart to develop its roots and eventually sprout into what everyone calls an "Impossible Dream". To be a dreamer, you must do what failures will not do! Look towards the future, forget about the past, focus on the present as a gift from God and make the best of every minute. Your main focus in turning your dream into reality should be promoting your level of excitement! Are you excited? Your excitement level will create unique responses from what I call "dream stealers". They will respond with words like - "Who do you think you are?" and "Don’t you know your whole family has been broke, and that’s just the way it is for people like you and I" and "Success and true happiness are for those special people who have all the luck in the world!" Despite all those remarks, you need to make a decision today and know exactly what your "WHY" is and where you wish to be in 5 years. Visualize right now a local construction site in your neighborhood that out of no where was erected, and you say to yourself "Where did that come from?" Well, that building came from years of planning, engineering and the vision of one person, who said I can see a structure there.
You need to realize the most difficult part of that project is not what we all see when we drive by it, but the years of work behind the scenes in order to make someone’s dream a reality. Here are three awesome citations in reference to dream building and walking by faith and not by what you see:"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - The Manifestation of your Dream and Why! "Seedtime and Harvest will not cease" - Whatever you plant in your heart will harvest. Are you planting seeds which will build your dream? "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act." - Are you excited all the time to work your plan to achieve your dream? Stay EXCITED all the time and you will progress daily towards your Ultimate Dream in life!
RESPECTED
You are not being respected for your education, nor for your personality. You are being respected for your conduct.
LIFE
Life is the art of drawing sufficient conclusions from insufficient premises.
GRATIFY
Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART --16

MIND MAKES THE MAN......PART...2
If we control thoughts, we can control everything. Therefore, even our secret thoughts should be fair, because they have a vital part in our health and well-being. Just as negative thoughts and emotions disturb the functioning of the body, positive ones promote it. If the mind can create illness, should it not be able to create good health? Many sicknesses can be traced to defects in our character and errors in thinking. What we need to change often are not our actions but habits of thinking. All actions ultimately are the outcome of our thoughts.
Thoughts hunt us in endless ways. They often trouble us out of sleep at night and follow us throughout the day. Hence we must know the secret of their control to achieve peace of mind which is important for happiness. An attempt must be made to remove negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. We can conquer the world if we can conquer our thoughts.
A mind can be made powerful by training. The more you discipline your mind, the more it will be under control. A pampered child suffers greatly over even a little hurt; a Spartan-trained child may hardly notice a serious injury. What we must do is to discipline our minds to be more positive. The mind can do whatever you want to do. It is so powerful. A mind made strong by practice of positive thinking is less affected by sensations of pleasures and pain because pleasure and pain are registered by the mind. The mind is extremely tricky, but if we train it, it will behave.
Another way to control your mind is to control your breathing, for there is a profound connection between breath and thought. Studies reveal that breath can be used to change the tone of one’s thoughts. Whenever any pollution arises in the mind, simultaneously it affects body. Out breathing loses its normal rhythm.
Average healthy person breaths about 15 times each minute. If the rate is gradually and slowly reduced to 7-8 times a minute, one can attain a relaxed mind. If you find yourself in a violent state of mind, you immediately do a breathing exercise, you will feel quieter. In this process, the mind is brought into harmony with one’s breathing. Thoughts will spontaneously become fewer and fewer as breaths lessen. The entire process of thinking will slow down. Slow rhythmical breathing has beneficial effects if restored to in tense situations, troubled moods, bouts of anger and extreme irritability.
For a pure, moral and noble life, the first requisite is a noble mind. From a noble mind would spring noble thoughts and from noble thoughts noble actions will follow. Let us choose to think from this moment onwards in a good, healthy and positive manner. Mind means flow of thoughts. Mind is man.
We are all products of our thoughts. Each thought we think produces an impression upon our mind and the sum total of these impressions assumes a tremendous force called character. Our thoughts are created, conditioned and controlled by our desires.
Our mind has the tendency to repeat its own thoughts. When the same thought occurs a number of times, it produces a deep impression in the mind and becomes a tendency.
If a man's mind dwells upon an indecent tendency, the man then helplessly runs after indecent pleasures. When a murderer assults his victims, his mind is seized with anger, revenge and such destructive thoughts. Murder is committed first in the mnd and then in action. If we nourish criminal thoughts, we are bound to become criminals. If we think good thoughts, good actions will spring from us. Thoughts of hatred, jealousy and envy are harmful. All negative thoughts finally backfire on us. They produce certain chemicals in the body, whch can cause high blood pressure or heart disease.
The scientists have observed tht thoughts are electrochemical events with physiological results. Unhappy and distressing thoughts result in ncreased secretion of acid in the stomach and also high blood pressure. on the other hand, good thoughts produce chemicals which continue a feeling of well-being and happiness, reducng the risk of heart attack. If we are aware
that thoughts are creative forces, we shall be careful to entertain less negative thoughts.
Thoughts are seeds sown, and actions, the harvest gathered. Seeds of weeds cannot but produce weeds; bad thoughts can result only as bad actions. Negative actions in turn promote wrong tendencies of the mind and thus multiply inward turmoil.Whatever you give out, will come back to you.Hate and you will receive hate in return. Inharmonious thoughts and emotions destroy us.

Mind must be cleaned from time to time, followed by a practical effort to nip every wrong thought in the bud.
TO BE CONTINUED.....

HAPPY 2009

AS THIS YEAR DRAWS TO AN END, I WANT TO THANK ALL THE SPECIAL PEOPLE WHO TOUCHED MY LIFE WITH THEIR LOVE & CARE AND MADE MY LIFE MORE MEANINGFUL. We resolve to break a bad habit (to stop overeating, to stop going to bed so late) or to build a good habit (to be a better listener, to exercise more). All too often we find that the force and momentum of our old habits soon overcome our best intentions.
We hope to replace our bad habits with good ones, or at least better ones. But what about habit itself? The dictionary defines habit as "an unconscious pattern of behavior." Habits are personal software programs that allow us to live most of our life on auto-pilot. These software programs were written many years ago and often were installed by other people (known as parents). It makes sense that our software might require an upgrade for us to function at our best.
But here's a deeper reason to look at our habits. Buddha, Jesus and many other spiritual teachers taught that we need to wake up from an unconscious, habit-driven way of living to become fully-conscious free human beings. Jesus advised against "pouring new wine into old wine skins." In other words, don't process new life experiences with outdated thought patterns.
When people asked Buddha if he was divine, he said simply, "I am one who has awakened."
Years ago I decided to only have one New Year's resolution each year (the most challenging and rewarding one I could imagine): to live each day consciously and creatively. I found that focusing on living each moment with awareness has allowed me to respond to life more authentically and more successfully.
How does it work? Instead of focusing on individual habits I focus on staying conscious throughout the day. Instead of dieting, I eat with awareness. Instead of an ambitious new exercise regimen or early-to-bed resolutions, I listen to my body's needs and respond to them. Instead of trying to "be more considerate," I aim to be more conscious in all my relationships. So this year, why not break the ultimate habit -- the habit of living from habit. Although good habits are better than bad ones and being completely free of habits isn't a realistic goal, we can all experience more freedom and renewed excitement about our lives if we free ourselves from the dictatorship of our habits.
The key to living consciously instead of sleep-walking through life is to pay attention to what you are saying to yourself at each moment: your "Inner Talk." Examining your Inner Talk gives you access to the software that's been running your life. You can decide what to keep and what to change. The good news is you are not a prisoner of your past conditioning. You can choose new Inner Talk based on your true values and your life purpose.
If conscious and creative living is your ultimate goal, why not use daily life as practice? Approaching each moment as fresh and new will keep your mind sharper, your body healthier and your heart happier. When new Inner Talk flows through the neurons and synapses of your brain, old habit patterns start to dissolve automatically. Each day is more exciting and filled with new potential when you approach it with "beginner's mind." You begin to live in the paradise of the present moment.
HARD WORK, TRANSPARENCY, AND THE COURAGE TO TAKE RISKS ARE THE QUALITIES ONE NEEDS TO SUCCEED IN LIFE.
Best wishes for a conscious and creative New Year!
to be continued......

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 13

DEVELOPING PERSONALITY.
OFTEN WE WONDER WHETHER ONE'S PERSONALITY CAN BE CHANGED. IS IT TRULY POSSIBLE? OF COURSE!
Remember, we are made up of liabilities and assets. We have with in us the desire to be happy and famous, the will to succeed, the desire for self-fulfilment and thoughts of self-destruction too. So when we look in the mirror we will find two different people at two different times. Sometimes we will have a frown and feel frustrated; sometimes a happy face because we are successful. This is common experience to all of us.
Inspite of this being a universal experience, unawares when you like the better 'you', you are at the moment enlarging the scope of your personality. If you choose frustration as a way of life, you undermine your personality and make your image shrink. In other words, 'you' and 'you' alone can add to your assets or accumulate more liabilities. No one else can do this for you. In order to be better 'you', the big 'you', with a better personality you ought to do one thing at a time. Shoot for a one goal at a time; Live in the present, live today, Forget the mistake of yesterday, but remember only lessons it taught; Stop criticising yourself as well as others; Yearn for self-improvement, hold on to your self-respect by appraising yourself
honestly; Learn to listen to others for it helps remove bias from your opinions. Don't be timid in your conversation. Talk even if you make a mistake; Exercise your imagination creatively to achieve success and finally remember the words of Charles Schwab, "PERSONALITY IS TO A MAN WHAT PERFUME IS TO A FLOWER".

ART OF LIVING.
Speak to people; there is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.
Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown.....only 16 to smile.
Call people by name; the sweetest music to anybody's ear is the sound of his own name.
Be sincerely cordial; speak and act as if it were a genuine pleasure.
Be considerate of the feelings of others; no one likes to be rebuffed.
Be thoughtful of the opinions of others; there are three sides to a controversy - your's, the other man's and the right side.
Be genuinely interested in people; you can like everybody if you try.
Be generous with praise. Praise uplifts -- criticism lowers.
Be alert to render service; above all, what counts in life is what we do for others.
Be fair in your criticism; remember your opinion is personal with you and tht doesn't make it always correct.

GREAT THINGS ARE SIMPLE.
All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honour, duty, mercy, hope.......Sir Winston Churchhil.
HEAD
Even the lonely woodpecker owes his success to the fact that he uses his head.....Joe Marcucci.
to be continued...................

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 12

FOOD TO BOOST MOOD
Chocolate is a popular remedy for depression, but it comes with unwelcome side effects. Sweet treats give us a sugar high that's inevitably followed by a demoralising crash. Still, there's growing recognition in the medical community that the right food choices can improve your mood. The trick is knowing which key nutrients to include.
EAT MORE
A) Fatty, cold water fish such as slmon, tuina, anchovies and sardiness contain omega-3 fatty acids, which keep cell membrances flexible, making the brain's neuro-transmitters work better. Plant-based sources include walnuts, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and green leafy vegetables.
B) Oatmeal, soy milk and two scrambled eggs will give you 500 milligrams of tryptophan, an aminoacid that's a precursor for seritonin, the brain's feel-good hormone.
C) Low levels of the B vitamin folate, found in spnach, peas, orange juice, wheat germ or avocado, may play a role in depression in some patients.
D) Vitamin D helps with seasonal affective disorder. It may also have an anti-inflammatory effect and increases the flexibility of cell membranes.
E) When combained with protien in fishor chicken, high-fibre, vegetables help stabilize blood sugar levels. Green leafy vegatables and kiwi fruit are high in antioxidants, which absorb the free radicals produced by stress.
F) Whole grains, a good source of B vitamins, break down and release sugar slowly, so you don't get high levels of insulin. ...mct.

COMPETITION CAN HARM KIDS
CHILDREN NEED TO BE ENCOURAGED BUT WHEN YOU PUSH THEM TO SUCCEED, YOU MIGHT BE DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD.
In today's rapidly progressing world where there is cut-throat competition, a slight blunder can pull you out of the rat race. Not many realise that the younger generation and children are slowly becoming victims of this competition. Parents anticipate their children to outshine their competitors, and in the process they cause immense amount of stress. Moreover, instead of giving them breathing space they expect their children to be on their toes throughout the day.
Bear in mind that stress is idiosyncratic, for chidren as well as adults.
One should take youngsters feeling seriously instead of deeming that he/she is still not matured, as that might help one realise the problems in a much better way.

A RIGHT CAUSE NEVER FAILS, A TRUE WORD NEVER HURTS IN THE END.
WHEN YOU CLAMOUR FOR RIGHTS YOU MUST LEND YOUR SHOULDERS TO CARRY THE OBLIGATIONS TOO.
RESORT TO THE RECITATION OF THE nAME WHEN YOUR MIND IS AGITATED BY FEAR, ANXIETY OR GRIEF.
WE MUST LEARN OUR LIMITS. Parents play the major role as the first and most important educators one can have. If they have no time for their own children, then who will have?
So the parents must reorient themselves to meet the challenges of rearing children. They must accept that their children live in different, and diverse era. The quality time parents spend with their children go a long way in moulding them. Children must be given freedom but with responsibility; show the examples of good leaders with distinctive core values that inspire
them to move ahead. Teach them, by setting an example of the dominant quality of compassion, alongside passion and respect for all they do. Parents and leaders can defenitely create a change of heart. They must teach the youngsters social ethics and noble values. Proper facilities and oppurtunities must be given to them for vocational and emotional counselling and
above all, a cordial relationship must be ensured among teachers, parents and students. Anyway, youngsters must feel that they are responsible for their own lifes, they must be cautious about the company they hang out with; must be able to discern between instant pleasure and long term joy; shouldn't neglect studies at any cost. Above all, the youngsters must not
hesitate to seek the aid, and advice from their well-wishers if necessary, and learn to express themselves constructively and creatively. Remember, only such youth can ensure a safe tomorrow to the world.HENCE, IT IS THE DUTY OF THE PAENTS TO MEET THE
CHALLENGES OF PARENTING.
ACHIEVEMENT
If your mind can conceive it and your heart can believe it - then you can achieve it.
AFRAID
BE NOT AFRAID OF GOING SLOWLY, BE AFRAID ONLY OF STANDING STILL.
FUTURE
The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create.
DEADLY FOUR
Weight, Blood pressure, Cholesterol and Blood Sugar. If these are well-contrlled, chances are that you are on the road to good health. in fact, it is not one of the said factors, but their combined effect that causes greater harm. Stress, a phenomenon that seems closely associated with our present day life style, affects everybody from the young to the old and is
the key factor that develops this life threatening combination of the "deadly" four. We often react to prolonged stress by smoking, over-eating, drinking too much and exercising too little, all which only add fuel to fire.
LIFE
Moral life is the backbone of the spirutual life. There cannot be any spirutual life without a moral life.
LITERATURE
The power of a wise saying is inestimable. There are thousands of beautiful quotations which inspire new faith and courage. All that is needed is a little more self-reliance. The study of great sayings enriches the mind, develops a sense of self-confidence necessary for successful effort. Literature is full of wisdom for your betterment.
TO BE CONTNUED..........................

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 10

LESS WORK IS NOT GOOD FOR MIND.....AND WILL LEAD TO A CONDITION CALLED "UNDERLOAD SYNDROME".
DO YOU HAVE MORE TIME ON YOUR HANDS THAN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH?. MORE PLAY AND LESS WORK MAY NOT REALLY BE GOOD NEWS FOR
US. IT MAY LEAD TO WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE "UNDERLOAD SYNDROME", WHICH COULD RESULT IN BOREDOM, DEPRESSION, HEADACHE AND
FATIGUE.
You are working way beyond your capacity and just want a break from everything and everyone. Just then a crushy job offer lands right on our lap -- flexible work timings, less work hours, long deadlines -- in short, the dream job. We grab the offer and start enjoying our new hassle-free work. After a few days, we start feeling bored and want something more
challenging and demanding.
This might sound silly and rather improbable, but it is true and many youngsters are falling prey to this condition, known as the 'Underload Syndrome', according to psychiatrists. The definition of underload syndrome is literally being 'bored sick'. A want for stimulation in life (such as with an extremely dull job) can result in depression and health problems including headaches and fatigue.
IF WE DON'T USE FULL USE OF OUR POTENTIAL -- WE MAY SUFFER FROM THIS SYNDROME.
But not everybody who suffers from this condition realises the root cause and takes up a challenging role. Many try to ignore it and develop health problems.
A person who is suffering from this syndrome can never relax; he or she keeps on pondering on their life and that of others. The result -- they are exhausted all the time. "AN IDLE MIND IS A DEVIL'S WORKSHOP". This is exactly what is happening. If our mind is not very demanding we feel tired because of all the unwanted thoughts that go through our mind.
The effect of this condition can also lead to other bad habits. Due to availability of time and boredom people tend to indulge in vices depending on their age. a young man or woman might succumb to alcohol or drugs to feel good. While an older individual can even go the extent of having an extra-marital affair.
SO LET US KEEP OUR MIND FULLY ENGAGED WITH FULL OF WORK TO ITS POTENTIAL AND ENJOY THE SAME.
INTERESTING THINGS TO REFRESH OUR MIND.
1) If you are right handed, you will tend to chew your food on your right side. If you are left handed, you will tend to chew your food on your left side.
2) The word "set" has the most number of definitions in the English language;192.
3) Cock-roaches can live for 9 days after their head has been cut off.
4) An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain.
5) Inteligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair.

TO BE CONTINUED............

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 9

LEARNING
Have you become frustrated at one time or another when trying to achieve a new goal? It can sometimes seem as if you are struggling to reach your destination. And the last thing you want to do is become discouraged or self-deprecating. Yet, this does tend to happen to the best of us.
While a proficient achiever knows how to set and pursue a goal, there are other factors that enter into the process toward developing excellence. Knowing about this process can help alleviate getting stuck and also bring greater clarity and value toward achieving a goal.
When learning something new, most of us go through a process. Think in terms of a baby who does not get around on its own, but then learns to crawl, eventually walks and finally knows how to run. If you see the big picture, then you are more likely to work through the rough spots.
Setting and working toward a goal is very similar to that of learning. So let us take a look at learning and consider how this process applies to the journey of goal achievement.

The learning or achievement process can become difficult when bad feelings surface because one makes a mistake or hits a roadblock. These feelings are reflected in self-judgments such as, ‘I am not doing this right,’ ‘I am not good enough,’ ‘I can never learn this,’ and so on.
Ironically, not getting it right early on and making mistakes are vital steps in the learning process. Yet too often our attention goes to trying to avoid the bad feelings, rather than to the learning or task at hand. Understanding and working through the process of learning a skill or achieving a goal can help keep the process focused, and not about feeling frustrated or discouraged.

SO NEVER GET FRUSTATED OR DISCOURAGED WHEN SOME THING GOES WRONG.....BUT LOOK IN TO IT TO LEARN, BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING
TO LEARN.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Success without a positive attitude is called Luck. Success with a positive attitude is called Achievement.
PROBLEMS
If a man does not give thought to problems which are still distant he will be worried by them when they come nearer.
RECREATION
People who cannot find time for recreation are obliged sooner or later to find time for illness.
WHAT GOD GIVES TO US
God gives us enough trails to make us strong, enough sorrow to keep us human and enough hope to make us happy.
REALISE
The More experience we gather, the more we realise that we ourselves are the cause of happiness as well as our misery.
To be continued........

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 8

DISEASE
Those who keep their brian active in terms of socialising, participating in active recreational activities or learning new information are known to be less vulnerable to many kinds of stress, anxiety, depression and other diseases pertaining to brain.Mental relaxation is very important to keep our heart in a good shape.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
We know for sure that a certain amount of rigorous physical activity elevates our mind and mood. Anybody who is feeling low should get into some kind of physical activity rather than a mental one.Concentration is definitely difficult at a time when we are feeling low.

RUN TO FREE YOUR MIND.
Free running is actually a physical art(just running for no reason). You can do it whenever you are frustrated, angry or just want to loose yourself. The free run will bring in the necessary chemical changes in brain which realx us.You can also go for a Free Run when you come upon obstacles in life - relationships, money troubles - You can use the obstacles to your advantage, like learning a lesson from it.When you are frustrated, angry or tense the stress hormone raises the heart beat, which inturn increases the oxygen demand and it might harm the heart.

CHOCOLATE
Studies reveal that eating chocolate creates a feeling of euphoria and decreases pain and stress. But from a nutritional perspective, it is still considered as junk food, which is highly unhealthy and fattening when eaten in larger amounts. It can also cause diabetes and obesity.

CHEWING GUM
Chewing gum can reduce stress and anxiety, according to a new research. The study, to be presented at the 2008 International Congress of Behavioural Medicine, found that chewing gum helped relieve anxiety, improve alertness and reduce stress among individuals.

WHY WARM IN A GREEN HOUSE?
Even without heating it's warmer in a green house than it is out side. The same increase of air temperature also occurs behind closed windows - for example, in a car. The reason is not that a cold wind might be blowing outside. It's because invisble heat rays from the Sun bombard us even on cloudy days. They pass through the panes of glass but cannot get out again. Once inside, the rays warm the interior.

HUMOUR.... Good humour is one of the best articles of dress one can wear in society.
IDLE..... Prolonged idleness paralyzes initiatives.
FRIEND...... Treasure is not always a friend but a friend is always a treasure.
LEARNING..... The man who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after.

THOUGHTS FILL THE BRAIN WITH HIGH THOUGHTS, HIGHEST IDEALS; PLACE THEM DAY AND NIGHT BEFORE YOU; AND OUT OF THAT WILL COME GREAT WORK.

  TO BE CONTINUED.......

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 7

EMOTIONS

TACKLE YOUR EMOTIONS WITH CARE
Life never has a smooth path. Our journey on it is bumpy. Many a time we find ourselves in a crisis. We feel desperate, helpless, lonely and depressed. Causes of this may be many and vary from person to person. But the solution to it is certainly similar. if we learn how to cope up with emotional crisis, we may be able to tackle this more gracefully.
When you find yourself in a situation of this sort, keep communication open and ongoing. Don't supress your feelings and think that others might belittle you. Sure, you will have somebody in your family or your social circle, lean on them. A talk to some one about yur problems may promote your mental health, ease you out of an embarrassing moment of your life. Certainly, it serves as an outlet to your pent up anger and helplessness.
Yet another way to overcome an emotional crisis is getting involved in a support group and accepting help with nosecond thought. When you are down and out, that is, when you need others to lift up your spirits, you need a few words of encouragement with the help of which you will be in a better position to regain your lost self-confidence.
A counsellor can lend a helping hand to you. they help you define, understand, and cope up with your problems. You must understand, that when you are distraught, you need to be more focussed. when you are made to understand, you willbe able to find a solution for your own problem. Slowly you will develop the needed acumen to handle your emotions when a similar situtaion arises in your life.
LIFE.
LIFE SPENT WITH SOMEONE FOR A LIFETIME MAY BE MEANINGLESS, BUT A FEW MOMENTS SPENT WITH SOMEONE WHO REALLY LOVES AND CARES FOR YOU MEAN MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF.
   DIFFICULTIES.
DIFFICULTIES ARE LIKE WAVES; THEY CANNOT HURT YOU IF YOU FACE THEM, AND AS THEY COME NEARER, YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF LIFTED UP TO MEET THEM.
   DESIGN YOUR FUTURE.
IF YOU LEARN TO TRANSLATE EVERY EVENT OF YOUR LIFE INTO A POSITIVE ONE, YOU WILL STOP BEING A PRISONER OF YOUR PAST AND BECOME DESIGNER OF FUTURE.
   ENERGY WE USE.
Sitting or Lying: 43 to 72 calories per hour.
Walking: 144 to 216 calories per hour.
Running: 432 to 575 calories per hour.
GOOD and BAD DAYS.
NEVER REGRET ANY DAY IN LIFE. GOOD DAYS GIVE US HAPPINESS. BAD DAYS GIVE US EXPERIENCE. Each person who achieves thier own definition of what success really is to them, has truly reached their own goals and will be at peace with their passion and destiny. You've probably heard the saying "success is a journey and not a destination", and that holds true in all our lives, if we're going to find the true meaning of success for ourselves.Success is a learned skill, it's not just something that we're born with naturally, and yes, some of us may be born with some pretty darn good natural talents and abilities. But it's in the identification and moulding of those talents, that equates to the true meaning of success.

How many times have you seen someone who has a god given gift, and doesn't have the fortitude, skills, knowledge of self-discipline to buck the system and say NO to the security and mediorcrity of their current circumstance. And understanding that being responsible for defining our own meaning of success for ourselves, and knowing that the choices we make are significant, and what we do really does affect who we are, our outcomes and whether we're successful or not. In short, our future has many different pathways.

So we need to really go on a journey of self-growth, and begin to look inside ourselves, so we can define our own meaning of success. I would like to point out that your success, just the same as anyone who has succeeded before you, has begun from the inside-out. We cannot change the external forces in our lives, but we can change what is inside our heads, hearts and
souls.

Through continual learning and growing in every area of our life, we not only increase our understanding, knowledge and wisdom of what it is we wish to succeed at. We also develop our character, attitude and endurance by constant, continual and gradual improvement.

By having a great personal and practical programme that serves your personal growth, you'll develop a fantastic tenacity in dealing with the little surprises that life will present to you each and every day. And don't be surprised if these little tests of the universe are sent to you in the form of stumbling blocks, which we can choose to look upon as "stepping stones" to our ultimate success.

Over time and as you grow, you will discover that you have an abundance of mental toughness and the correct mindset to deal with any problems that come your way each day, you'll indeed become so good at dealing with problems that you'll have time and heart left over after dealing with them rather than feeling winded and exhausted after putting out the fires of life.
In essense you will have discovered the true meaning of success for your life and be living in a content, happy and desirable life, that many will aspire to having.

And what about the emotional thoughts that you are presently experiencing? That is also information that you're processing at the moment. We live in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost everything and anything that you could ever want to know is only a few mouse clicks away.

I recently read an article that said that even in a calm and peaceful environment, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is happening sixty seconds out of each and every minute, and sixty minutes out of each and every hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for the length of our entire life.
And that is a big part of the crisis. We are all being tormented by "information overload." And that makes it very tricky to remember all of the information that we want to remember or need to be able to remember.

In our chaotic world it is quite often very difficult to focus your attention. But little concentration will bring in the change.

To be continued..............

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 5

MUSIC PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN REFRESHING OUR MIND
Music with strong beat can stimulate brainwaves to resonate in sync with the beat, with faster beats bringing sharper concentration and more alert thinking, and a slower tempo. It promotes a calm, meditative state. The change in brainwave activity levels that music can bring can also enable the brain to shift speeds more easily on its own.
With alterations in brainwaves come changes in other bodily functions. Those governed by the atonomic nervous system, such as breathing and heart rate can also be altered by the changes music can bring. This can mean slower breathing, slower heart rate, and an activation of the relaxation response, among other things.
Music can also be used to bring a more positive state of mind, helping to keep depression and anxiety at bay. This can help prevent the stress response from wreaking havoc on the body, and can help keep creativity and optimism levels higher, bringing many other benefits.
CURRENT AFFAIRS AND KNOWLEDGE
Being aware of current affairs not only makes us a thinking citizen but also help understand the world in a better perspective. When we are in touch with the news, we can see the patterns emerging and thus can analyze situations better. But with the knowledge boom, it has become difficult in choosing what to read and what not to. Today, many teenagers have access to the Internet but its credibility is an issue of concern there. Teenagers are usually advised to read news papers besides the sports and entertainment pages. They should watch news bulletins and news analysis shows on television to get a better understanding. Besides the direct effect, having our finger on the pulse of the happenings indirectly also helps us in taking sound decisions and taking control of situations in a betterway.
Today, in the corporate world, ignorant teenagers can't grow up to become successful professionals. It is a myth that people who want to go to creative fields need not be aware of current affairs. In fact, knowledge about the world around us helps in every field.
KILLING TIME CAN BE AMUSING
Man never stops complaining. He complains when there is a dearth, and cries when he has in excess.Whether is's food, lovers, or money, we all need just about enough to make life simple and easy. The same goes with time. "I really don't have the time", could be man's best excuse to shove tasks, but it is also man's worst nightmares. Several books have been written and workshops organized but teach lessons in "time management."
Often, the lack of time to perform a task causes stress, anxiety and could be the root cause of everything that goes wrong in one's life. But no time or too much time could all but mean the same. For instance, imagine you are lying on your bed starring blankly at the wall with simply nothing to do. Irritation, boredom, anger, unpleasant thoughts of the past come to take
advantage of you. Don't this mean that time in excess is also menacing? But furtunately, to kill time, one does not really need the help of management gurus.
Some innovative thinking can really make killing time so much more fun. If I am bored, I just lie on my bed and start reading something.....a news paper or a magazine.
TO BE CONTINUED......

REFRESH OUR MND --- PART --- 4

IN A KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY, WE HAVE TO MAKE INNOVATIONS, WHICH COMES THROUGH CREATIVITY.

INNOVATIONS
The primary focus of the students and youth should be to excel in their studies. This is their first contirbution to the development of the nation. The education system should instill in the minds of students capacities of inquiry, creativity, technology, entrepreneurial and moral leadership. If we develop in all our students these five capacities, we will produce "Autonomous Learner" a self directed, self controlled, lifelong learner, who will have the capacity to both respect the authority and at the same time be capable of questioning authority, in an appropriate manner. These are the leaders who would work together as a "Self-organising Network" and transform the nation in time bound manner.

CREATIVITY
In a knowedlge society, we have to make innovations continuously. Innovations come through creativity. Creativity comes through beautiful minds. It can be anywhere and any part of the world. It may start from a fisherman hamlet or a farmer's household or a dairy farm or cattle breeding centre or it enimates from class roooms or labs or industries or R & D centres. Creativity has got multi dimensions like inventions, discoveries and innovations.

A creative mind has the ability to imagine or invent something new by combining, changing or reapplying existing ideas. A creative person has an attitude to accept change and newness, a willingness to play with ideas and posibilities, a flexibilty of outlook, the habit of enjoying the good, while loking for ways to imrove it. WHATEVER THOSE PICTURES MAY BE, GOOD, BAD OR SCARRY, OUR SUBCONSCIOUS GOBBLES IT UP AS GOSPEL AND ENSURES THAT OUR BEHAVIOUR MATCHES THOSE IMAGES.
The primary cause that underlies all our so-called imbalances, of the mind and body, can be addressed by asking ourselves a simple question: "Who do I think I am?".
This encompasses the whole bundle of beliefs that help us create our sense of identity or ego self. This central idea is the major psychological and spirutual breakthrough of the age of us.
"How do I see myself?" "What kind of parent, what kind of lover or worker am I?" "Am I good at languages, music or math?" Whatever we think of ourselves most accurately predicts our performance. We go towrad activities that we know we can accomplish and stay away from those we might fail. We see around us regularly very talented people in sports, arts or business who were not able to develop their talent because their sense of self, their self-image, was the real obstacle.
However, "correct" or outlandish the picture, our subconscious becomes an obliging slave to it. Interestingly, from then on, the subconsicous becomes the most powerful influence in our lives and also gets programmed for repetition. We become creatures of habit. Thinking the same from day to day, being the same everyday, Untill... one day we wake up and say, "Hey, I would like to change the way I feel about this". And that's all that's necessary. That awareness alone can be the beginning of a new and conscious habit.
So, let us ask ourselves this vital question: "How do I see myself?". Because that is how everyone sees me. Others see in us what we see in ourselves. As we change the pictures inside ourselves, we change the way the world appears to us. It is our self-image that determines how we ininterpret and respond to all life.

AT THIS STAGE LET US REMEMBER WHAT SOME GREAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT LIFE.

"THE SKILL OF WRITING IS TO CREATE A CONTEXT IN WHICH OTHER PEOPLE CAN THINK"..... EDWIN SCHLOSSBERG.

"YOU CAN DISCOVER MORE ABOUT A PERSON IN AN HOUR OF PLAY THAN IN A YEAR OF CONVERSATION".....PLATO.

"REMEMBER NOT ONLY TO SAY THE RIGHT THING IN THE RIGHT PLACE, BUT FAR MORE DIFFICULT STILL, TO LEAVE UNSAID THE WRONG THING AT THE TEMPTING MOMENT".....BENJAMIN FRANKLIN.

"THE LEAST INITIAL DEVIATION FROM THE TRUTH IS MULTIPLIED LATER A THOUSANDFOLD"....ARISTOTLE.

"HE WHO REJECTS CHANGE IS THE ARCHITECT OF DECAY. tHE ONLY HUMAN INSTITUTION WHICH REJECTS PROGRESS IS THE CEMETERY".... HAROLD WILSON.

TO BE CONTINUED.......

REFRESH OUR MIND -- PART -- 2

STIMULATE THE SENSES
So, are we all destined to experience increasing difficulty in thinking, learning and remembering… more confusion and ultimately loss of our independence and our personality?
The answer is a definitive NO and here’s the reason why you can be confident…
Recent brain research has shown that if you act to improve the condition of your brain cells and strengthen the connections between them, you can greatly reduce the chance of mental decline occurring or, if it has started, you can work to slow its progress… perhaps even reverse it!

What's more... If we do nothing to protect them, at the age 30 years or so, our brain cells and the connections between them start dying off, which means you’re really never too young to start preventive action.

So how you can use the brain to protect your future lifestyle so you don't have to depend on others? Well, how about ‘getting physical’ with the brain. ‘Getting Physical’ means you won’t be popping pills, doing memory tests and puzzles or stuck in front of your computer playing games like other brain health programs.

You’ll actually be enjoying yourself by doing what your brain welcomes!

And here's how it works...

Your brain cells are like little batteries and provide the electricity your brain uses - with the help of special chemicals to send and receive messages. If you let the battery in your car ‘go flat’ or the wiring become corroded the electricity doesn't flow properly and it's hard to get the car to start or run efficiently.
It’s much the same with your brain… it needs special maintenance to keep its electricity supply flowing effectively and ensure it's functioning. And that's precisely what the latest in brain health research is telling us.
So what is the special maintenance your brain needs…?.....stimulating the senses. How? ....by refereshing your mind.

LET US DO THAT
"MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED. It is my desire that this site be content rich, uplifting and educational. My goal is for it to be a great resource for improving your understnading of life, relationships, enhancing your life skills and assisting in overall personal development.

Sure, it's easy to say, "Change your attitude and you'll change your life," but how do you do that if you don't know what to do? After all, if changing one's attitude was easy why don't more people do it? Especially if it means they could be happier, more joyful, and much more successful?

Honestly, I don't know. What I do know, however, is that changing one's attitude doesn't need to be difficult and, in fact, can be quite easy. . . . All you need is to consistently employ a few simple techniques and you'll be on your way. So, to get you started, here are what some great people said and if we recollect them we will get started on improving our attitude.
Good luck!

"WHEN I LOOK BACK NOW OVER MY LIFE AND CALL TO MIND WHAT I MIGHT HAVE HAD SIMPLY FOR TALKING AND DID NOT TAKE, MY HEART IS
LIKELY TO BREAK".......WILLIAM HALE WHITE.

"ONE SHOULD NOT LOSE ONE'S TEMPER UNLESS ONE IS CERTAIN OF GETTING MORE AND MORE ANGRY TO THE END"......WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS.

"THE SAFE WAY TO DOUBLE YOUR MONEY IS TO FOLD IT OVER ONCE AND PUT IT IN YOUR POCKET".....FRANK HUBBARD.

"TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS, WE MUST DREAM AS WELL AS ACT".......ANATOLE FRANCE.

"THE HAPPINESS OF A MAN IN THIS LIFE DOES NOT CONSIST IN THE ABSENCE BUT IN THE MASTERY OF HIS PASSIONS".....ALFRED TENNYSON.

"THEY ALWAYS SAY TIME CHANGES THINGS, BUT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO CHANGE THEM YOURSELF".....ANDY WARHOL.

"HE WHO COMES UP TO HIS OWN IDEA OF GREATNESS MUST ALWAYS HAVE HAD A VERY LOW STANDARD OF IT IN MIND".....WILLIAM HAZLITT.

"THE ROOTS OF EDUCATION ARE BITTER, BUT THE FRUIT IS SWEET".....ARISTOTLE.

"YOU CAN MAKE MORE FRIENDS IN TWO MONTHS BY BECOMING INTERESTED IN OTHER PEOPLE THAN YOU CAN IN TWO YEARS BY TRYING TO GET
OTHER PEOPLE INTERESTED IN YOU".....DALE CARNEGIE.

"TO KNOW WHEN TO BE GENEROUS AND WHEN TO BE FIRM - THIS IS WISDOM"......ELBERT HUBBARD.

To be continued......
